INDIVIDUAL CONDUCT · Respect is paramount! Have and show respect for yourself. Have and show respect for others. · Look after your training partner. Land them safely when you throw. · Listen to your coaches at all times. Pay attention to what’s going on around you. · Be ready to start practice at the start time. That means arrive 5-15 minutes before practice. When you enter a class late you disturb the class. So please be courteous to the others in the class and be on time. · We bow onto & off the mat. We bow in & out of practice. We bow to our instructors & training partners to show them respect.
UNIFORM · Clean white or blue Judogi. A Judogi that has dirt or mud on it will not be allowed on the Judo mat. · All tears in your Judogi should be sewn or patched. · Girls should wear a clean T-shirt under their Judogi.
APPEARANCE · Cleanliness is a common courtesy in Judo, and should be taken seriously. · Hands and feet must be clean when stepping on the mat. · Fingernails and toenails must be kept trimmed short at all times. · Girls should have their hair tied back with an elastic band that has no metal on it. · Jewelry of any kind is not allowed, that includes rings, watches, earrings, necklaces, friendship bracelets and “piercings” of any kind. This is to avoid injuring yourself or your training partners.
DO NOT DO’s · No shoes on the mat. Do not leave the building in your bare feet and return to the mat. · No food or drink on the mats. · No chewing gum during practice. · No profanity, bullying, or “horseplay” in any Judo activity or setting · Avoid sitting or laying on the mat during practice. · Do not disrupt the class in any way.
FOR THE PARENTS · Please drop off and pick up your children on time. That means 5-15 minutes before practice, and within 15 minutes following practice. · Parents are encouraged to stay and watch during practice. Many of the lessons we teach in practice related to respect, self-esteem, hard work, etc, can be reinforced at home. · No “parenting” from the sidelines. The instructors are equipped & trained to guide students in all aspects of the class and will call on the parents for assistance when necessary.
CLUB FEES · Quarterly club fees are due on the 1st of Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct. Club fees are non-refundable. · Classes will be held according schedule, with some exceptions due to holidays or other schedule barriers. On some occasions, practice will be rescheduled, and on rare occasions, practice may need to be cancelled. · Our primary communication channel will be via e-mail, and we will post updates and schedule changes on our website: www.BarringtonJudo.com
NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP Membership in a Judo National organization is required (USJI is recommended – www.usjudo.org ). Membership provides necessary insurance for the individual and is a requirement under the club’s insurance coverage. Membership in a National organization is also required if the participant wants to compete in any tournaments, train at other clubs, etc. |
